The 16 Main MCU Superheroes Will Return in 2025 Films and Television Series (Verified)
After a slower pace in 2024, 2025 promises to be a major year for the MCU.
Massive for Marvel Studios, 2025 will have movies returning with multiple familiar faces from the past Marvel movies and series.
This year’s going to be huge for the MCU, especially after just one movie – Deadpool & Wolverine – got released last year.
One of the studio’s more significant releases of the year is The Fantastic Four, which officially introduces Marvel’s First Family into the MCU, starring a superhero group featured by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joesph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as they navigate through fame in an alternate reality.
Indeed, those are great introductions; at the same time, however, it’s returning faces who could create even more buzz for 2025 at the MCU.
2025 Will See the Return of Every MCU Hero
Spider-Man
Returning to the screen this year is Spider-Man, one of the most popular heroes of all time in pop culture. Ironically, it will not appear as Tom Holland’s Spidey in live-action or even under the MCU proper.
The character, however, gets a good representation in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, a new animated Disney+ series following the hero at the start of his journey.
The events of this show happen in a universe similar to that of the MCU but with significant differences, like Norman Osborn becoming Peter Parker’s mentor instead of Tony Stark.
Hudson Thames (What If…?) will lend his voice for Spidey in this new series, which will consist of ten episodes in its first season.
The last time the fans saw this character in any form was 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man airs on Disney+ on January 29, Wednesday.
Daredevil
Probably one of the top-rated fans’ vigilantes is Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, who is going to feature in this year’s two projects.
The first is Daredevil: Born Again-this is a long-delayed sequel of the original Netflix series which was canceled. New enemies Muse and Bullseye see the superhero and protector of Hell’s Kitchen reluctantly join forces with Kingpin.
The third project is animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with Cox voicing the character.
This was the character’s previous 2022 appearance: on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he had an ecstatic fling with Tatiana Maslany’s titular attorney.
It will be available for streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, January 29, while Daredevil: Born Again launches on March 4.
Frank Castle/Punisher
Along with Matt Murdock played by Charlie Cox, the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal will return in Daredevil: Born Again-for the first time involving
Most probably think that Bernthal is born to play Frank Castle, and fans hang out to see his return.
The return story is still not known, but it seems that the anti-hero has a lot to do in the trailer for the show.
Sam Wilson/Captain America
Following his co-leading Disney+ series, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is resurfacing with his own movie, Captain America: Brave New World.
For the first time in Captain America, Chris Evans will not be making an entry for Sam Wilson. It’s also the first time Sam Wilson will be on his solo journey while holding onto the shield and its legacy.
That said, this would not be a walk in the park; he would not only have to contend with the elusive Leader but also go toe to toe with an irate Harrison Ford, better known as the Red Hulk.
If the trailers are to be believed, it might be the beginning of Sam’s journey in leading a newly formed team of Avengers.
Recently, audiences spent some time with Sam Wilson in What If…? Season 3 as he led the Avengers in massive mech suits.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit the theaters across the globe on February 14.
Joaquin Torres/Falcon
Wherever Captain America goes, there too will be Falcon. This time, the Falcon is played by Danny Ramiriz’s Joaquin Torres, the character introduced in Disney+’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (also the character’s latest appearance).
This time around, Torres is going to sport a fancy green suit to zoom around in the skies with Sam.
Captain America: Brave New World arrives at theaters around the world on February 14.
Isaiah Bradley
Indeed, Isaiah Bradley is a character of Carl Lumbly, who was first introduced in a tragic origin story in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The previously government discarded super-soldier is again on action Captain America: Brave New World. Unfortunately, the trailer suggests that he would be one of the few subjected to The Leader’s machinations, which would drive him crazy, as it did with the Winter Soldier, ages back.
Captain America: Brave New World, bright films in theaters all across the globe on February 14.
Yelena Belova
It is arguably true that Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova is one of the best additions in the MCU in the Multiverse Saga.
Fans last saw her in 2021’s Hawkeye, where she had a bone to pick with Clint Barton and much hilarity ensued with Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
Now, after a long wait of four years, she returns in two projects for 2025, the first being Thunderbolts.
While Thunderbolts is an ensemble movie, she will practically be the one leading the narrative, in a story many feel could be a direct sequel to Black Widow especially сonsidering the involvement of Red Guardian and Taskmaster.
Yelena will preside on the major part of animated R-rated series Marvel Zombies, the spinoff of a Season 1 episode of What If…?.
Thunderbolts opens on May 2, while Marvel Zombies debuts on Disney+ on October 3.
Bucky Barnes
Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes will soon return to the silver screen in Thunderbolts, but it is strange that he won’t feature in Captain America: Brave New World.
He’ll be facing the newly formed group before teaming up with them in Thunderbolts, which honestly feels a bit similar to his days as The Winter Soldier.
The character previously saw action in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the final season of What If…?.
Thunderbolts will be in theaters on May 2.
Red Guardian
Fans recently shared some time with David Harbour’s Red Guardian in the last season of What If…? However, there is plenty more to come for the character in 2025.
He is also going to be a key member of the titular team of this summer’s Thunderbolts, which is nearly built very differently from its original design, along with his daughter Yelena. He, along with everyone else in the movie, is posed to return for both upcoming Avengers films as well.
As if that weren’t enough, the character is also getting yet another animated appearance this year on account of Marvel Zombies.
In theaters on May 2, Thunderbolts* will be followed by Marvel Zombies, which comes to Disney+ on October 3.
John Walker
Wyatt Russell’s John Walker was the villain on a sympathetic arc in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and his story picks up momentum again by returning in 2025-a return that the actor himself has anticipated for quite a while now.
Walker, who is now US Agent, will be part of Thunderbolts*, providing the titular team with a handy metal shield. Although Walker will hardly be a hero, this film will probably redeem him in more favorable light than his introductory show.
Surely, the movie should also address the question of why Val ever offered him the title of US Agent in the first place.
Technically John Walker appeared recently in an episode of What If…? Season 3, but it could easily be missed by most.
Thunderbolts* lands in cinemas on 2nd May.
